Tate Modern Family Experience

Tate's new "Family Experience" is a fun and innovative children’s tour. Presented in a very didatic format and featuring three different experiences, the app encourages kids to put their own interpretation on the artwork and the gallery space. Wether it's touching the walls, crawling on the floor or mimicking the movements of other visitors, with this app kids will surely enjoy a day at the museum!

Encouraging kids to play and learn with art

When a child stands in front of a piece of abstract art, what do they see? How does it make them feel? Do they like it?

This was the starting point of this innovative multimedia guide produced by Antenna International for Tate Modern. The idea is to let kids actively create their tour, adding their point of view to the experience. The app proposes three different adventures: "Mission. Enter the Artist's Brain", "Screm, Scream, Scream" and "My Teacher is an Alien".

The design was kept simple to center the attention on the activities, not on the screen itself. The device is visually transformed into an audio receiver which helps guiding the little ones through the activities with a very well thought audio script.

Following Tate's visual guidelines, we decided for a black background and bright colors, one for each adventure. To give the idea of an audio reveicer device, the voice over is animated with a simple equalizer video.

I was responsible for the general app design and for creating the videos.
